Where would movements for social change be without the intersection of visual art and words? In this workshop, students will learn about the power of art to provoke change. They will practice the concepts, techniques, and steps for creating socially engaged posters and zines. They will produce an individual project and a collaborative project that reflect personal convictions as well as shared social concerns. Led by Kari Ebert and Mark Harris, award-winning and widely exhibited artists whose work spans museum collections, national publications, fellowships, and international residencies. This workshop affirms that the connection of written and visual arts can become a means of community empowerment for real change.
