Jennifer King - Image Design: Using the Principles of Design to Create Dramatic Photographs
Understanding how the principles of design affect our visual response to an image can help us communicate through our photography. We will explore, in depth, the ways in which 10 design elements, such as line, balance and perspective, impact the visual flow of a photograph. By learning how the viewer’s eye moves through a frame, photographers gain the insight to create images that are more intentional, expressive, and visually compelling. Understanding the principles of design is a critical step toward producing stronger, more dramatic photography.
