Abbott’s Mill Nature Center represents a unique partnership between Delaware’s Division of Historical & Cultural Affairs, Division of Fish & Wildlife, and Delaware Nature Society, a state-wide 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
Abbott’s Mill Nature Center is located just 4 miles from downtown Milford, Delaware. Abbott’s namesake is Delaware’s only preserved, working gristmill dating back to 1795, with public tours offered every third Saturday, March"“November at 2pm.Â
Delaware Nature Society staff at Abbott’s manage over 500-acres of preserved wildlife habitat and 5-miles of pet-friendly hiking trails throughout Sussex County, including the 404-acre Milford Millponds Nature Preserve nestled between Abbott’s and Blair’s Pond, as well as Delaware Nature Society’s 109-acre Marvel Saltmarsh Preserve in Slaughter Beach, DE.

Abbott's Mill Nature Center is located 4 miles southwest of Milford on Abbott's Pond Road (Route 620) off Route 36. Driving time from Dover, Del. is about 30 minutes and from Lewes, Del. about 40 minutes. Look for an Abbott's Mill sign at the junction of Rte. 113 and Rte. 36.
