House Lights is a nonprofit organization focused on cultivating a sense of trust and belonging within communities through the use of creative engagement and art programs. Through House Lights, artists will partner with libraries and begin a three year residency where they will help develop community art projects. This program will not only help amplify community voices, and engage community members in collective problem solving, but it will also provide a space where there is increased trust and belonging among the community.Â
House Lights will be conducting a pilot program in summer 2021 in partnership with the New Castle County public library system. Throughout the summer, House Lights will be hosting workshops at the Bear Public Library, the Woodlawn Branch Library, and the Route 9 Library and Innovation Center that will help community members learn new artistic skills, and grow their already existing talents. The goal for this summer is to give a voice to unsung communities and help implement creative community infrastructure on a small scale.Â
