Art Works for All (AWA), an organization dedicated to providing educational opportunities through the arts for children and adults with disabilities, conducts the following programs:

• School Based Artist Residency (SAR) Program: This program uses an artist residency model to facilitate integrated arts education programming for students with disabilities. This program aligns with national standards in visual and performing arts, and provides cross-curricular learning utilizing the arts as educational tools. AWA prioritizes building multi-disciplined established projects that will enhance the exposure and engagement of students with disabilities to a variety of art forms. 


• Artist Residency Program: This program provides residency projects to specific community sites serving adults with disabilities. AWA is responsible for all project components and facilitates, monitors and evaluates the program process.


• Performing Arts Group: This program is designed to provide opportunities for adolescents with disabilities to experience music, theater and dance, as well as performance exposure. Participants develop communication and interpersonal competency through theater skill acquisition.


• Arts Administration Internships: This initiative is providing internship opportunities in the field of arts administration to transitional-age students and young adults with disabilities. This program partners with the Arts Center/Gallery at Delaware State University and provides participants with opportunities to develop career skills through exhibit design/installation, engagement with exhibiting artists, and day-to-day management of a community arts environment.


• Cultural Access: AWA is consistently working to improve access to the arts by assisting other arts organizations with improving and implementing greater access. In the past, AWA has provided accessibility assessments for other cultural organizations and developed cultural access resources.


• Celebration of Creativity (COC) Exhibit and Performance: AWA designs, develops and coordinates a visual arts exhibit/performance that is installed at a community arts center. COC showcases the artwork produced by program participants and provides an opportunity for their work to be recognized and professionally presented. The annual COC exhibit tours to additional exhibit sites during the following program year.

MISSION: The mission of Art Works for All, formerly VSA Delaware, is to enhance the capabilities, confidence and quality of life for children and adults with disabilities by providing educational opportunities in the arts.
