The History Book Festival is the first and only book festival in the United States devoted exclusively to history. Led by a volunteer board and funded in part by grants from Delaware Humanities and Sussex County Council, as well as tax-deductible contributions to the Greater Lewes Foundation, the Festival’s organizers believe in the power of history, literature and civil dialogue to influence the future for the better. The festival brings authors of historical fiction and nonfiction to Lewes on the last weekend of each September and also hosts stand-alone events with authors throughout the year, often in partnership with other community organizations and businesses, such as the Lewes Public Library, the Rehoboth Beach Film Society, the Fort Miles Historical Assocation, and Dogfish Head Brewery.Â
