Art of the Flower: Work by Charlene Jobe
September 25 through October 28
Opening Reception: Friday, September 25, 2026 (5pm-7pm)
Corkran Gallery
“Charlene paints like an author uses words. Each brush stroke expresses a passionate feeling. The process is cathartic. The final visual image is like completing a chapter of a book. Flowers capture her attention, the look of bold and bright colors against colors of the fields. She wonders how could such beauty be overlooked? To bring a sense of immediacy to her work, she paints on location; en plein air. She becomes part of the landscape. She paints many flowers in her studio; poppies are the subject of many paintings. They are a flower of connection and remembrance to us all. Things become a blur, the colors and lines flow together in her paintings and the final images, abstract. Her work is floral and organic and these images represent the unspoken language we all feel in nature.”
