In 1998, while vacationing in San Antonio, Texas, Peninsula Gallery owners, Tony and Carol Boyd-Heron, came across a grand 5-foot landscape painting depicting an ethereal, winding road. The couple, so moved by the image, purchased the piece. Crafted by Tania Dibbs, this painting, titled “The Road to the Future,” was instrumental in paving the path that the Boyd-Heron’s business and life would take. As a result of their purchase, Tony and Carol invited Tania to have a solo exhibition in their gallery, which became one of the first major showcases they mounted. The success of this show earned the Peninsula Gallery a reputation for representing high-quality fine art and providing opportunities for artists all across the country.

To celebrate its 30th anniversary, the Peninsula Gallery is bringing Tania’s work back to Lewes for the first time since 2006, honoring the artist who put the gallery on its “road to the future.” Over the years, Tania’s work has evolved from low landscapes and big horizons to a new, varied approach that combines impressionism and abstraction. Clients who know Tania’s work from the past will be thrilled to see how her style has changed, while new patrons will appreciate her skilled approach to color theory and composition.

An opening reception will be held on Saturday, October 3, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, which is free and open to everyone. While Dibbs will not be in attendance, patrons are welcome to join the gallery staff for an evening of fine art and complimentary food and drink.

Tania Dibbs is a contemporary abstract painter based in Basalt, Colorado, collected by clients in Aspen and throughout the United States. Working from her studio and gallery in the Roaring Fork Valley near Aspen, she creates large-scale paintings and sculptural works that explore the intersection of the natural world, humanity, and culture. Tania’s paintings often incorporate screens, overlays, and layered surfaces that both reveal and obscure the landscape beneath. These visual interventions reflect the tension between the beauty of nature and the complex, often contradictory systems humans construct around it.

Tania’s work is held in private collections in the United States, Europe, and Australia, including those of Perry Farrell and Etty Lau Farrell, Jackie Bezos and Mike Bezos, Portia de Rossi, and John Hickenlooper, among others. Her pieces have also been placed in leading hotels, including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton, and Gaylord National Resort & Convention Center.

“Tania Dibbs Solo Exhibition” is on display from October 3rd to November 1st. Works from the show can be previewed at www.peninsula-gallery.com and are available for pre-sale.

The gallery is located in the Shops at the Beacon, 520 East Savannah Rd. Lewes, DE, and is open Tue-Sat 10-5, and Sun 11-3.
