Collage: A Laboratory for Visual Experimentation
In this collage workshop you will learn to manipulate elements in real time without the permanence of paint or ink. Using a variety of papers and thoughtful design principles, you will gain the ability to see multiple potential solutions by experimenting with placement, scale, and pattern. Best of all, this workshop offers an opportunity to find a use for all of the papers of interest in your art room. Bring gel plate prints, unfinished artwork, collected, found, or decorative papers that you have been saving for something special. Today is the day! Learn more about instructor Susan Benarcik on her website. Ages 16+.
Attendees will need to bring:
A selection of 5-7 papers of interest that you are willing to deconstruct. Good ideas are: gel plate prints, unfinished paintings or drawings, collected papers such as gift wrap, old maps, tissue papers, art papers, really anything that has some color or pattern will work well.
Pre Workshop Must Do:
Give thought to shapes, patterns, or designs that you frequently draw. What are these? For example, I frequently draw organic forms, you may have an interest in lotus flowers, mushrooms, crows, eyes, geometric chevrons, or spirals. Do you know what they symbolize or mean to you? Fill an 8x10 sheet of paper with 1-3 familiar shapes or sketches. *Please don't skip this essential element for this workshop.
