Ages 16 and up. Discover the genre of “healing fiction,” which is typically translated from Japanese and/or Korean (Iyashikei), and features cozy contemporary settings that commonly involve libraries, bookstores, coffee shops, and cats. Healing fiction is a popular literary genre focused on comforting, slow-paced stories that help readers soothe emotional burnout, loneliness, and grief. These cozy, feel-good stories also often incorporate an element of magical realism. Our selected title is Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi.
