Description:Â One of a series of three "The Little World" murals by Leo Laskaris. The second panel evokes religious themes and uses a sun to represent God. Former UD art professor Frank H. Sommer wrote, "the sun illuminates the brain and gives man the intellectual power to see and understand all nature and also lights up the heart as a symbol of the love of man and wife, parents and children, man and God. The sun is used as a symbol of the centrality of God in the lives of all men. In order to stress this universality, since our town is made up of Jews, Protestants and Catholics, the burning bush has been combined with the sun, since the story of Moses and his vision is common to all three groups of believers." The mural hangs in the Newark City Council Chambers alongside the other two murals in the series.
