The CoinSmith: Stacey Lee Webber
Heidi Lowe Gallery will showcase a collection of skillfully crafted, wearable pieces made from coins. The reception will take place on Friday, July 10th, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Heidi Lowe Gallery, 119 Front Street, Lewes, DE. The show will be on display through September.
Based in Philadelphia, artist Stacey Lee Webber is internationally recognized for her meticulously crafted, boundary-pushing artwork made from American currency. Webber wants audiences to question their understanding of the value of labor and transformative material. Her practice uses techniques such as coin cutting, embroidery, and metal fabrication to make wearable and sculptural pieces.
Webber's work will be on exhibition during the 250th anniversary celebration, inviting viewers to participate in a powerful dialogue between contemporary artistry and the legacy of our historic coastal home.
