DSU & Biggs Present: Capital Jazz Showcase

Experience an evening where the next generation of musicians share the stage with nationally acclaimed performers in a celebration of jazz, creativity, and community.



The Capital Jazz Showcase brings together exceptional student ensembles alongside a special piano performance by Miss Delaware, Anaya Harrison, before culminating in a headlining concert by the internationally recognized Lao Tizer Quartet featuring platinum-selling vocalist Elliott Yamin.



Throughout the evening, a live painter will transform the music into visual art in real time, creating an immersive experience that celebrates the connection between artistic disciplines. Food, beverages, and a cash bar will be available, making this a lively evening of music, culture, and creativity at the historic Schwartz Center for the Arts.

About the Headliner

The Lao Tizer Quartet with Elliott Yamin, Anthony Crawford & Joel Rosenblatt!

Nominated for "Jazz Group of the Year," the Lao Tizer Quartet makes their Dover debut with music from their newest release, AMPLIFY, Recorded live at the legendary EastWest Studios in Hollywood, the project showcases the group's signature blend of contemporary jazz, funk, soul, and world influences.



Led by keyboardist Lao Tizer, the quartet features an acclaimed lineup including Elliott Yamin, the platinum-selling American Idol finalist; legendary drummer Joel Rosenblatt (Spyro Gyra, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Michel Camilo); and Anthony Crawford, Rolling Stone's 2022 "Bassist of the Year nominee," whose career includes performances with Erykah Badu and Jeff Lorber. Together, they deliver a dynamic performance that blends virtuosic musicianship with infectious energy and genre-crossing sound.
